Keep Your Fork!

Here is something that was told me to me on my
Walk to Emmaus.
I did my walk back in 1998, I believe it was.

Keep Your Fork!

There was a woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things in order, she contacted her pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in. The woman also requested to be buried with her favorite Bible.

Everything was in order and the pastor was preparing to lave when the woman suddenly remembered something very important to her. “There’s one more thing,” she excitedly. “What’s that?” came the pastor’s reply. “This is very important,” the woman continued… “I want to buried with a fork in my right hand.” The pastor stood looking at the woman, not knowing quite what to say… “That surprises you, doesn’t it?” the woman asked. “Well, to be honest, I’m puzzled by the request,” said the pastor. The woman explained. “In all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, “keep your fork.” It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming… like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!

So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and I want them to wonder ‘What’s with the fork?’ Then, I want you to tell them: “Keep Your Fork”… “The best is yet to come.” The pastor’s eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the woman goodbye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death But he also knew that the woman had a better grasp of heaven that he did. She KNEW that something better was coming.

At the funeral people were walking by the woman’s casket and they saw the pretty dress she was wearing and her favorite Bible and they fork placed in her right hand. Over and over the pastor heard the question “What’s with the fork?” And over and over he smiled. During his message, the pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the woman shortly before she died. he also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. The pastor told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either. He was right. So the next time you reach down for your fork, let it remind you oh so gently, that the best is yet to come…

2nd hit, today!

Hit #2.

This bill has travelled 16 Miles in 42 Days, 7 Hrs, 50 Mins at an average of 0.38 Miles per day.

It is now 16 miles from its starting location.

I entered this bill in Knoxville, TN (It was picked up in Sevierville, TN) but hit in Maryville, TN. But that is still great I got a hit.

I often take a bill I find (Marked George) and take it with me and enter it at the next place I can enter it. Like I might find one in KY on my way to MI from TN. And it won’t be entered until I get to MI.

Whinning does wonders! I want more hits and I want them now! *Fingers Crossed* Wish me luck!

business cards

Today I gained 1,636 business cards from sorting out my daughters cards. I am done with that for now, until I get my 5 Rubbermaids full of business cards sorted out into categories, so I can find out more dups that I might have. I might not only have some from my daughters collection, but from some that I get from people, I won’t totally know until I sort them out. I hope that sometime this year, i can get started on at least one of the boxes.

My daughter had 6,264 total business cards, I figured she had over 3,000, boy was I way off. Hers was just an estimate, unlike mine is an actual total.
Of the 6,264, 4,827 of them were added to my collection, although, I am sure some I already have, but I am unsure, I added them now, I can always subtract the total later if I find I do have that one already. 1,437 of them I knew for sure that I had already, I even noticed she had some of the same card a few times as well.

My collect is partly hers too now. But mainly mine. We will just do it as one big collection together.

If I had a will, I would leave my collection to her.

So please continue to send us business cards, pretty please!

If you have business cards laying around or even someone at your work don’t work there any more and they are going to through away his/her cards, please send them to us. We can take duplicates for trading!

You can send business cards to:
Steve Patterson
PO BOX 27840
Knoxville, TN 37927-7840
USA
. I like to post when I got business cards, otherwise, I will just put from the location they came from.

I am sure Amy Patterson () wishes that I would get my cards sorted out already, instead of taking up about 5 Rubbermaids in the storage closet. Then, they can be in my binders that Amy Patterson made for me.

People to my sight!

You what I like about my play of words on “Cardeologist is that it is a play on word and the other thing for search engines, a lot of people miss spell the doctor Cardiologist and could end up at my site.

I believe the term “Cardeologist” was started by a fellow collector named Ron McLaughlin. I was wanting a catchy domain name when I got mine, and tried it and it was available. That is how I got my domain name as, www.cardeologist.com.

BTW, I am adding this to my FAQ section of my web site.

Kewl it was kind of already on my FAQ
under…

Are you a real doctor?

No, I am not a doctor. I use the word “cardeologist” as a play on words. Card”e”ologist. If you notice it is spelled with an “e” not an “i”. If it was spelled with an “i” like cardiologist, then you would refer to the heart doctor.

I will just add to that term then.

Unusual Dream…

I woke up early this morning to an unusual dream I had.

I never remember my dreams, but I did this one. I guess it is because I woke up during it having to go to the restroom.

About the dream…

I was riding with a friend in a car. We went to pull out of this parking lot, when this truck cut us off going backwards. They backed up all the way into the street.

So my friend, was going forward speed up and cut them off in the street, while they were switching from reverse to a forward gear.

Well, we get not even one block down the road, we both get signaled by the police to pull into this other parking lot.

When there, they had us all go into a bus.

They were calling us to ask us questions. I was being called last.

Next thing I know… I spot Ellen Degeneres.

I say something about me collecting business cards and then she came up and sat beside me to talk about it. Also some how I had my binder #1 that also had my famous/autographed business cards in it.

She asked me if grammer counts in requesting business cards. I said I guess not, never really thought about that.

She said, well I have a business card for you, but you are not getting it until I have you on my show, that is when I will give you an autographed one to add to your collection.

I was like wow!

(That is when I woke up!)
