Knoxville area has a new grocery store in town. It is called ALDI. It is off Clinton Hwy. near the Wal-mart & Home Depot. It seems like an interesting store …
The set-up inside reminds me of Save-A-Lot.
If you use a shopping cart, you must have a quarter. You put the quarter in the slot and you get a cart. When you return the cart, you get your quarter back. I guess that is a good way to save on employees collecting carts.
Another way I think they cut cost, is not having bags. So if you go, you need to bring your own bags. Kind of like how Sam’s Club does it. But, I didn’t see boxes up front, like Sam’s Club has for you to place your items in.
They do have brand name items there. To me the prices are about the same as if I went to a normal grocery store like Food City or Kroger. But, they do have some generic stuff.
I do know I would go back again.
Do any of you have this store or a similar store that either doesn’t bag your groceries or requires money to use the shopping carts?

On Sunday, February 15, 2009, I hit 100K miles on my car. I was on my way from taking my mom home from work to her house. She had me stop at the store and it hit the 100K mark right as I pulled into a parking spot.
It is hard to believe, this car had nearly 47K when I first got it, end of January 2005. Almost 4 years later and I put on over 50K miles. Just wanted to make a post about a mile stone with my car.
